Licence activation and offline use

The Key defines your edition and plan. Activation links it to an installation, and a lease confirms its entitlement for a specified period. Learn how to obtain this confirmation online or through a file on an offline network.

1. Submit your installation for activation

After startup, enter your company, tax ID / identifier and contact details, then select “Send activation request”. The request goes to our support panel. After verification and approval, the software automatically receives its licence and activation confirmation. No file exchange is needed. The request contains neither the private key nor WEBCON configuration.

A paid licence is an annual subscription paid upfront. It includes software access, updates and support. Without renewal, access is blocked after the grace period specified in the order, including older versions and offline use.
A trial Key works for 30 days without limits on users, workspaces or environments.

2. How activation confirmation works

After manual approval of the installation, the software connects to the server specified in WEBCON_LICENSE_SERVER (default: https://licencje.viewer-pro.pl). It receives a lease, an activation confirmation valid for 30 days. Server renews the lease daily; Portable checks whether renewal is needed at startup. Check which data is transmitted.

Two activations. One plan allows two installations, such as production and test for Server, or a laptop and backup computer for Portable. Each installation requires our approval; a third exceeds the limit. Free a slot on the previous installation: Settings → Licence → “Deactivate”. If you no longer have access to it, contact us.

Plan limits. The Server company plan counts active users and includes one workspace and unlimited environments. The partner plan counts client workspaces, with unlimited users and environments. Standard Portable includes one person, one workspace and four environments. Plan table explains which accounts and workspaces count towards the limit.

The software prevents adding accounts, workspaces or environments beyond the limit. Saving the first snapshot in an empty environment is also checked. Disabling an account or 90 days without sign-in frees a user slot. After a downgrade, the oldest workspaces and environments retain import access within the new limit. Others remain readable, and administrators see a restriction notice. No data is deleted.

Before initial approval, only activation is available. The trial ends on its recorded date; lease tolerance does not extend it. Reinstallation does not change the trial end date.

3. If an online installation loses connectivity

The tolerance below concerns connectivity only and applies within the access rights granted by the Subscription and its grace period. It does not replace payment for another year.

Lease expiry alone does not delete data. While access entitlement remains valid, viewing stays available and activation verification restores full functionality. If the paid year and grace period have ended, viewing, search, comparison and export are also blocked. Licence renewal remains available; data is not deleted.

4. Activate a licence on a network without internet

For an installation without internet access, use a lease file valid for up to 12 months. The file does not extend access beyond the Subscription and its grace period. Obtain it in three steps:

Create a request file

Choose Settings → Licence → Offline activation → “Download installation request”, or use the command below. The file contains the licence number, installation identifier, version, counts of users, workspaces and environments, and the date. It does not contain configuration content.

Send us the file

Send the request from a computer with email access to contact address. Within one business day, we will return viewer-pro-activation.json. The confirmation is tied to the installation that created the request.

Load the confirmation file

In Settings → Licence, select “Load activation”. Set WEBCON_LICENSE_OFFLINE=1to disable connections to the licence server.

The offline activation file is tied to the installation. Moving the database to another server (Server) or changing the computer or user name (Portable) requires a new request. A new request does not start another trial.

5. Upgrade, renew or transfer an installation

Upgrade: you receive a new key for the same licence. The additional charge covers the remainder of the paid period. Paste the key in settings; activations, lease, snapshots and accounts remain unchanged. Start with the quote form.
Renewal: after payment for another year, we extend access to the software, updates and support. Online installations receive this on the next lease renewal. Offline installations receive a new confirmation file. The licence number stays the same; you may receive an updated key. Load the current key and confirmation file provided with renewal.
Transferring an installation: on the previous installation, choose Settings → Licence → “Deactivate”, then submit the new installation for approval. Transfer data separately: use a PostgreSQL backup for Server or copy the data directory while Portable is stopped.
Switching from trial to paid: paste the new key in settings. Data and the installation identifier remain unchanged.

6. Licence configuration variables
